Getting Around El Paso

The city of El Paso has a good transportation system that visitors can use to get around town reasonably well. It is reliable and it features a bus system and a trolley service that stops in the downtown region, the Lower Valley Region, and in other major hubs within El Paso County.

Here is a brief guide that can help visitors use El Paso's bus and trolley services...

El Paso features over 40 local routes that run seven days a week.
These routes serve over 100 residential and commercial neighborhoods. Most buses on these routes run between 9 AM- 6 PM Monday-Friday and from about 10 AM-5 PM on the weekends.

Most of these buses have stops along Central Avenue.
This is area is one of El Paso's major hubs. Patrons can find buses running along here at least every 10 minutes during peak times and about every 15-20 minutes during the rest of the day.

El Paso also has at least 12 routes that go to and from the Downtown area.
Two of these routes are called "circulars." They run every 10 minutes around the downtown area and are a quick way to get around the downtown area.

The other routes meet at the El Paso Convention Center and San Jacinto Plaza in downtown.
After they have traveled to these areas, most buses will make stops along El Paso's downtown shopping and business districts.

El Paso's busses also have five other major drop- off points around town.
They are located at the Westside Center, the Eastside Park N'Ride, Northgate, Five Points and the San Antonio District. These hubs are close to several restaurants, hotels, and shopping areas.

Finally, passengers can pay their fares in several ways.
First, passengers may pay a fare upon boarding a bus. Transfers are free and are good for 2 hours on the day of purchase.

Second, passengers may also purchase a monthly pass online or at any of the major drop off points around town.
These passes are good for one calendar month and may be used at any time during the day.
